Please find below important information and Club regulations that all members should adhere to. These are designed with the rider’s safety and enjoyment in mind and to maintain the good image of the Club

 

CAUSES OF FALLS

Unable to clip out in time

Poor road surfaces- wet/ icy/ gravel/ holes

Riders bumping into each other due to overlapping wheels or stopping or turning suddenly

 

AVOID CAUSES OF FALLS;

Stay on tarmac surfaces

Cancel ride if icy

Slower riding if damp/ wet

Avoid off road and roads with poor surfaces

Call obstructions and potholes clearly

Call stopping or slowing before slowing, and slow down slowly unless an emergency

Do not have overlapping wheels, and stay an appropriate distance behind the rider in front

Practice with clip in pedals and shoes, and only use on a ride outside when you are competent with clipping in and out.

 

RIDES WILL BE CANCELLED WHEN:

Temperature is below 3 degrees at the start

There are high winds

There is heavy rain

This will be called on Spond.

 

FOR ALL RIDES.

Carry physical ICE, eg sticker outside helmet

Wear a helmet correctly fitted

Rear light, and preferable front light too

Have insurance. More details will follow shortly 

Carry a pump and repair kit (2 tyre leavers, 2 inners, 1 multi tool)

Mudguards if wet

Bright coloured clothes

Well maintained bike

Tyres correct type and pressure for the conditions

Gloves and glasses recommended, but not essential.

No headphones or airpods

No TT bikes on group road rides

 

FOR OCTOBER-MARCH

As above plus:

Front lights

Full mudguards for all rides (not ass saver) to protect the riders behind you

 

WE WILL ALL

Stay together as a group

Ride at the speed of our slowest rider

If there are more than 8, we will split into smaller groups.

If we split up on a hill we will regroup at top or bottom of the hill

Will stay on roads and tarmac bike paths at all times

We will ride the advertised route

These are social group rides. Not training sessions.

We will report all accidents to Martin Wilson 

 

OFF ROAD ROUTES

Only if arranged prior to the ride, and if everyone has appropriate tyres and bike and skills.
