Hillingdon Triathletes

Celebrating Over 40 Years of Multisport Excellence

The Pioneering Years (1986)

In 1986, when the sport of triathlon was still a niche curiosity in the UK, three men with a shared vision changed the sporting landscape of West London. Dave Wardle, Andrzej Warhaftig (Andrej), and Ken England founded Hillingdon Triathletes with just four original members.

Starting from humble beginnings, the club was built on a foundation of inclusivity. Dave Wardle took on the role of Chairman, a position he would hold for an incredible 34 years, guiding the club through its infancy into one of the most respected triathlon organizations in the country.

"Our goal was simple: to create a space where anyone, regardless of ability, could experience the challenge and joy of swim, bike, and run." — Reflection on the founding ethos.
