A little more guidance on when to rack and unrack bikes. Number on bike to avoid competitor stealing your bike.

My son was in the 15-16 youth race which was supposed to be 1 lap, 7 laps, 1 lap. Even the pre-event email this week said this despite them starting with the women and vets. He had obviously been training for this distance and ran the first lap fast (he was leading with a vet) and came into transition only to be told that he was doing 2 laps. He must have lost a minute. It was very confusing for him. I saw Two of the other three youths do the same thing but my son lost the most time. Obviously then running an additional lap and then three additional bike laps was not what he expected to do today. If it had been the shorter distance he may have won as the other boy only lapped him once on the bike. Less bike laps would favour my son. I can't understand how a preadvertised distance can be changed and if it was, it should be done in advance of the day and not on the start line or after the race has started. It is a real shame as my son has been looking forward to this event for several months.
