Excellent Tristan event.
My son was in the 15-16 youth race which was supposed to be 1 lap, 7 laps, 1 lap. Even the pre-event email this week said this despite them starting with the women and vets. He had obviously been training for this distance and ran the first lap fast (he was leading with a vet) and came into transition only to be told that he was doing 2 laps. He must have lost a minute. It was very confusing for him. I saw Two of the other three youths do the same thing but my son lost the most time. Obviously then running an additional lap and then three additional bike laps was not what he expected to do today. If it had been the shorter distance he may have won as the other boy only lapped him once on the bike. Less bike laps would favour my son. I can't understand how a preadvertised distance can be changed and if it was, it should be done in advance of the day and not on the start line or after the race has started. It is a real shame as my son has been looking forward to this event for several months.
A little more guidance on when to rack and unrack bikes. Number on bike to avoid competitor stealing your bike.
Well organised no frills race, pleasant people very reasonable entry cost.
Fantastic, family feel and inclusive.
Well done - a great event, and thank you to the organizers and all the marshals.
This is the first duathlon my son has entered and he really enjoyed it, he is looking forward to the next.
Safe and very friendly
Another great event run by the Hillys. Thank you!
A very enjoyable , competitive and well organised event
A wonderful, very well organised and friendly event
A great start to duathlon
Combining the TS1 and TS2 into one race was confusing for beginner triathletes. Whilst the concept of counting laps seems very straightforward, in principle, this was a problem with children in TS1 completing too many. The transition area was crowded and a little confusing compared to previous years. However, we love the event. Thank you.
Great event at a great venue
We love this event but it's disappointing to see how few competitors there have been the past couple of years and it is starting to make our club members see it as a bit of fun rather than a serious event. If our club hadn't been there today I don't think there would have been enough boys in TS3 to fill the podium. It's a lovely event and a wonderful venue so please try to promote it more widely so that our children have stiffer competition.
Friendly club event for all levels
I thought all the people involved in the organisation of the event were brilliant, helpful and supportive
